This Week on the Peak

This Week on the Peak – Wednesday, February 22, 2017

This Week on the Peak
Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA
The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!
February 22, 2017

Rev. Jeremy D. Nickel
Rain, rain, everywhere!  As predicted the dial has been turned from drought to deluge and much of California is suddenly under water.  And this is no joking matter.  In San Jose, the city I live in, large swathes of downtown and several neighborhoods are sustaining terrible flooding from the Guadalupe River and its many tributaries that snake through the neighborhoods.  So far I have not heard of any of our Mission Peak UU people directly affected, but I have no doubt that many of us know people who are.
This Sunday our service will explore how we can grow our pastoral care skills, and it seems to me that the world is full of reasons why this would be a good thing for us all to work some more on right now.  Whether it is responding to the hateful policies of our government, helping those searching for dry land in our own communities, or simply lending a hand, hug or some of your precious time to a friend in need, this is a time to grow our abilities to serve others.
See you soon!
Rev. Jeremy D. Nickel
