We know that religious spaces haven’t always been welcoming places for all people, especially when it comes to gender and sexuality. Unitarian Universalists are changing that.

Mission Peak congregation is certified as a UUA “LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation.” For 25 years, we have worked hard to make sure lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are full members of our faith community. Being welcoming means striving for inclusion and creating spaces that honor every part of our identities, backgrounds, and experiences.

In November 2020 we received notice that we had successfully completed the Five Practices of Welcome Renewal. Rev. Michael Crumpler, LGBTQ and Mulitcultural Programs Director for the UUA, congratulated us on our ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ welcome and inclusion in and beyond Fremont, CA. He said it was a pleasure to read about all we have accomplished and the powerful work we’ve done to ensure that MPUUC is meeting the needs of queer and trans congregants and the wider community. In 2018 the UUA instituted a renewal process which we completed last year. For more information on UUA LGBTQ programs and activities, please visit: https://www.uua.org/lgbtq. If you would like to participate in planning MPUUC’s programs to fulfill our renewal for the current year, please contact Michelle Wallace or Kat Rubie.
