Tenant Rights

Residents Insisting on Social Equity (RISE) is a coalition of different faith congregations, community groups, and residents fighting to make sure Fremont has affordable housing and tenant rights. RISE partners are united to make sure that new development and redevelopment results in benefits—not displacement—for Fremont. Mission Peak UU’s participation is spearheaded by Katherine Rubie, head of our Tenant Right Committee. She met with Gov. Newsome when AB 1482 was signed into law in November 2019, providing tenant protections from large rent increases and evictions. Contact Katherine at 765-413-3370 or katrubie@gmail.com

Abode Services Home Warming Program

Mission Peak UU participates in the Abode Services Home Warming Program, which helps formerly homeless people with furniture donations and household goods when they find a new home. Abode Services, founded in 1989, is an organization with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to the emerging needs of homeless families and individuals. Ana Bicakci of Mission Peak leads our efforts in this area. She can be reached at 510-449-5989 or ana@bicakci.org
