NEW DUE DATE FOR
WEEK ON PEAK AND OOS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Effective April 3, 2018 the deadline for submitting both Week on Peak and OOS announcements will be Tuesday at 5 p.m.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation with the new time frame for announcements.
A few words from our minister in the interim…

We continue MPUUC’s tradition of expressing gratitude for the brave voices in the larger community responding to the call for justice.  In our
Sunday service March 4th, Arnav Gupta, high school senior and Youth Radio reporter, received the MPUUC Courageous Hero Award for 2018, for his radio segment heard on NPR,  “When Anonymity Hides Hate.” His younger brother and parents came with him to witness the moment. Before and after the service, members demonstrated the warmth of MPUUC, congratulating Arnav and his family. Pictured are Arnav, certificate in-hand, and yours truly.

-Rev Benson

Regional Assembly Delegates Needed

Regional Assembly for the Pacific Western Region is coming up in Portland,
April 27-29. Because of the added travel costs for attending, the Pacific Central District is providing funds to each congregation in the district to help offset some of the costs.
This year’s theme is
Stories of Hope, Courage, Resistance and Resilience. One of the featured speakers is Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, the new president of the UUA. Complete information and schedule is available at
https://www.uua.org/pacific-western
Mission Peak is entitled to 3 delegates (in addition to our ministers who are automatically delegates). If you think you might be interested in attending let Holly Ito or President Michealle Havenhill know.

Also, if you’re not already receiving the regional newsletter, you can go to this same website to signup.

Help Really, Really Needed for Sunday Services
We’ve lost several members who have been helping with
Sunday Services for a long time. We need your help.
We have
no one to greet/hand out the order of service on the first
Sunday of the month.
We have
no one to decorate the pulpit (Aesthetics) on the third
Sunday of the month.
Starting in July, we will have
no coffee on the third
Sunday of the month.
We often only have one person signed up for Take Down. Although we really appreciate members who help out just because they’re there, it’s a big job for just one person to be responsible for. We should have at least two members signed up for each take-down shift.
I need you all to click on this Google spreadsheet and sign up for at least one of the open slots (in yellow).  If you can commit to doing one
Sunday per month, that would be awesome, but if you can’t, please just sign up for one or two.
Thank you, Colleen Arnold

Please Turn in Your Pledge Cards
We officially kicked off our annual Canvass pledge drive last Sunday with a special service led by Rev. Dr. John Buehrens, former president of the UUA.  We handed out pledge cards during the service and we are asking everyone to turn in their pledge cards, if you have not done so already, this Sunday in the offering plate.  If you were not at the service
on Sunday, your pledge card has been mailed to you.

As you consider how much to pledge to Mission Peak for our next church year, please dream big!  Think about your wish list for Mission Peak and how your pledge can help us accomplish some of those things!  Please don’t forget about the special matching funds for pledge increases that a member household has donated this year.  For example, if you pledged $1,000 last year and you pledge $1,200 this year, your $200 increase will be matched for a total of $400 going to Mission Peak.  They are matching pledge increases up to $8,000 total!

If you would like to talk through a good pledge amount for your situation, please contact Rev. Benson; she will be happy to discuss ways to determine a good pledge for you.
If you did not receive a pledge card in the service or in the mail please contact Melissa Holmes at 510-299-2822.
