This Week on the Peak

This Week on the Peak

Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA

The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!

July 4, 2018

This Sunday’s Service:
Balancing Your Life
We all need hope, love, purpose, and affiliation. Here in the Bay Area where it is so expensive to live, a job becomes more than just having a purpose in life, it becomes an essential economic reality that can swamp other needs. In this sermon I will talk about importance of balance in our lives and how we can take a step back to allow more time for other essential aspects.

Sharon Davis will lead the service and assisting will be Worship Associate Ilze Duarte. Jo Ann Schriner will provide our music.

Friendly Visitor Teams
Mission Peak is starting a new undertaking, called Friendly Visitor Teams, beneath the umbrella of Pastoral Associates. The first team is Team Irene.
Do you remember Irene Tejeda?  She used to come regularly to Mission Peak and sit in the front row. Her voice was a strong soprano in the choir, and her sense of humor sometimes added to the service. She is unable to come to church now, but still lives in Fremont.
Currently three of us are keeping weekly phone contact with Irene. She enjoys the calls even if she sometimes doesn’t remember them, her daughter tells us. She misses the congregation, and her family asks that we send prayers and good thoughts her way. Cards for Irene sent to her daughter Emily would be appreciated as well.

Please call Jo Ann Schriner 510-648-8963 for information about Team Irene or to suggest another team that might be needed. We could use additional people on the Teams.

Greetings MPUUC from your new Transition Team (TT2)

You will be hearing more about our work as the time for Rev. Jo’s arrival nears and we begin our
time with her.  We want to thank all the members of the first Transition Team (TT1) who have guided us
and served the
Congregation so well over the first year of our transitional time.
Eric Dittmar, Beckett Gladney, Terri King, Tiffany Longfield and Mark Rahman – thank you so much!!
TT2 is chaired by DeAnna Alm and includes Annette Breingan, Alan Davis, Holly Ito and Valerie Stewart.

Children & Youth Religious Education (CaYRE)

It’s summertime in the RE program.  All children and youth will be enjoying a variety of activities during class.  They may find a member sharing their passion, a fun craft to make or an exciting game to play.  It will be a fun summer filled with social time.  We still need a few teachers for August, if you would like to volunteer this summer, please contact CaYRE at
cayre@mpuuc.org

Request for Class Proposals – Adult Education – Fall 2018

The Adult Education Committee is seeking class proposals for the 2018 Fall quarter – September through November. This is an opportunity for you to share what you know with others. We especially welcome our new members to consider teaching a class as it provides a unique opportunity to get to know others in a different setting.
Past topics have included meditation, healthy eating, art and spirituality, the Enneagram, poems, and a singalong. Classes can vary from one-time events to meeting every week. They can be held at Mission Peak or at your home. If you have an idea but not sure if it would work, check it out with one of our committee members on Sunday morning. Committee members are Eric Dittmar, Ilze Duarte, Patt Saso, Len Tiemann and Linda Messia.
How can you submit a proposal? Email Linda Messia at
lmessia@yahoo.com
with your course information.   Please submit your proposal no later than July 6th.  Thank you!
