Thank you, thank you, thank you. The love I experienced on Sunday, as you circled around me and showered me with such thoughtful words is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I hope that each of you get to experience something like that in your lifetime. We should share our love like that more often.
And well, here we are. The end. It is not a place our culture gives us much good training for. But I feel great about how we have been able to say goodbye to each other. And this Sunday, after my baseball themed message, we will once again speak magic words to each other. On a hot day in May, way back in 2011, we spoke words that magically installed me as your Minister, this time we will do the opposite, releasing each other from the bounds of our covenant. I won’t lie, I have already spilled a tear or two as I prepared the words for this ritual.
Also, this Saturday, June 17, we will say goodbye to our beloved friend and long time member of Mission Peak UU, Ursel Bloxsom. Her memorial will begin at 10 AM in Cole Hall, and more information can be found in an article below, and I hope to see you there.
And finally, I have my
last set of community office hours tomorrow, Thursday, June 15 at Mission Coffee from 11 AM – 1 PM, and I hope to see you there! For those who can’t make it tomorrow or this Sunday, and who I have not been able to say goodbye to in person, I send you my love and gratitude for all that we shared during this time.
Be well, blessings and don’t forget to tell someone you love them,
Rev. Jeremy D. Nickel
Minister of Mission Peak UU Congregation
Fremont, CA.
Preferred appointment times: Tue-Thur
11am-6pm
My preferred pronouns are “He” “Him” and “His” please feel welcome to share yours with me.

Summer Second
Sunday collections for Mission Peak
Over the summer our Second
Sunday collections benefit specific programs at Mission Peak. This year our summer collections will be for the following programs:
June 18 (moved from June 11): Speaker Honorarium. We have several speakers lined up over the summer to cover the 2 month absence between Jeremy’s last service and the first service with our Interim Minister Rev. Benson.
July 9: Sandwich Squad. We do not have any budget for the Sandwich Squad other than what we collect during special collections and any donations people make directly to the Sandwich Squad.
August 13: Social Media. As part of our community outreach we need to make sure we have a robust social media presence. While some social media is free, many others like Meet Up and targeted advertising are not.
This coming
Sunday, June 18, is the Second
Sunday collection for our Speaker Honorarium. If you plan to write a check, make it out to Mission Peak and include the description “Speaker Honorarium” on the memo line so we know that this is for the special collection.

Care Team Forming for Maria Luisa
As many of you know our beloved member and friend Maria Luisa is in a battle with cancer. As she shared with us recently during Joys and Concerns, it has moved to stage 4 and is in her liver. She is beginning Chemo treatments very shortly and has the most incredibly positive and beautiful spirit you can ever bring to such a moment.
In the coming weeks and months we know that Maria Luisa and her family will need support from us, and so we are forming a special care team to focus on taking care of them all. We know that there is a huge reservoir of love and support at Mission Peak UU for this family, and many have asked how they can help. Well, this is how.
At the moment they need help both with rides and meals, but this could change in the coming months.
Please contact the head of Pastoral Care Rev. Barbara Meyer’s at
com_minister@mpuuc.org to let her know that you want to help, and please give some indication of what you can do.
Thank you for continuing to show an incredible commitment to each other. I know you all join me in sending prayers, blessings and love to Maria Luisa and her family.

Baseball Sunday Fundraiser
This year our annual Baseball
Sunday celebration will be
Sunday, June 18 which is also Father’s Day. What better way to celebrate than an afternoon at a baseball game? We will be heading south this year to see the San Jose Giants play the Visalia Rawhide at
1:00 pm. And it’s not just a fun baseball afternoon, it’s also a chance to support Mission Peak!! We’re making this event a fundraiser and for each $12 ticket we sell we get to keep $5. What could be easier? So invite all your friends and family for a fun, family friendly afternoon at the ballpark and support Mission Peak at the same time. We have an initial lot of 75 tickets, but can get more if we sell out. Jen King will have tickets available most Sundays, but is also willing to mail out tickets. Please make all checks out to MPUUC. If you have any questions or want to order tickets, please contact Jen King at 510-299-2825.
