This Week on the Peak
Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA
The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!
June 21, 2017

Hello Fellow Mission Peakers,

The Board members for the 2017-2018 church year who we voted on at the Annual Meeting this month traditionally take office in July.  At the Board meeting last week we started that transition process. This coming church year I will be the Past President, which is the first time we have had this position on the Board.  I’m looking forward to developing the Past President position to help give continuity from one year to the next and provide some history for decisions that were made in the past few years. Michealle Havenhill, the incoming President, Paul Davis, the incoming President-Elect, and I have already met to start talking about what needs to be at the top of the new Board’s priority list, including welcoming our new Interim Minister, choosing our Settled Minister Search Committee, and continuing our outreach efforts.

As part of the effort to appoint a Settled Minister Search Committee, we have started working on dates this fall for the UUA Transitions Coach assigned to Mission Peak, Anne Hines, to come meet with different groups within the Congregation, including one meeting with the entire Congregation. Please watch for more information in the Week on the Peak as we solidify our plans.

Lastly, please don’t forget that there is a representative from the Board at every service who is listed in the Order of Service. If you questions or feedback for the Board please reach out to any Board member, and the Board rep on Sunday is a great way to do that.

In fellowship,
Melissa Holmes
President

Honoring and Learning from Medieval Feminism
We often think of the women’s rights movement as beginning in the 19th century with the struggle for voting rights.  In fact, the struggle for equal gender rights is millennia old.  I would like to acquaint you with some of the notable women and men who contributed to progress in the European Middle Ages, and the various ways they engaged in the struggle.  We should honor them and learn from them.

Leading the service will be Paul K. Davis and Worship Associate Mark Rahman.  Music will be provided by Eric Niessner.
