This Week on the Peak

This Week on the Peak
Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA
The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!
December 13, 2017

This Sunday’s Service:
Holiday Pageant
This year, an Earth-based theme in our Christmas story.

Leading our service today are our DRE, JeKaren Olaoya, our children and the wonderful Children & Youth Religious Education committee. Assisting will be Rev. Benson & Worship Associate Drew Wilson.
“The past was always there, lived inside of you, and it helped to make you who you were. But it had to be placed in perspective. The past could not dominate the future.”   -Barbara Taylor Bradford, Unexpected Blessings

If you haven’t had a chance yet, or you have but you’ve remembered something else important for you to include, the Mission Peak History timeline will be available for you to add your entries one last time this Sunday, December 17, after the pageant. This timeline will serve as a guide as we review, celebrate, grieve and release whatever of our past we will need to release as we move ahead in our transition process.
Exact dates or approximate ones, write:
*when you first came to a service or event at or with MPUUC,
*when you became a member of MPUUC,
*other significant points in your understanding of MPUUC’s history and your history with MPUUC,  if they don’t yet appear.
Your Transition Team will study the information and report back in summary fashion key points and any issues the Team sees will need more attention.
This is an important part of our process as we move toward our search for a new minister, so be sure to participate! Thank you!
-Beckett Gladney, Tiffany Longfield, Eric Dittmar, Shaun Klopfenstein,
Terri King and Mark Rahman–and Rev Benson

In the Interim: From Your Minister
Dear People of Mission Peak,
In my sermon this past Sunday, I raised some questions for you to consider. They are relevant questions as we take a “look back from the wilderness” on the history and key moments in the life of MPUUC and your life and commitment to this congregation. I also shared questions my good colleague Tom Schade developed in his review of work by Kim Beach, student of our 20th century Unitarian theologian, James Luther Adams. My questions and Tom’s questions invite you to consider deep issues, your reflection upon which will help us all as we move forward in the ministerial search process.

I said I’d put all of these questions in my Week on the Peak entry and (
