This Week on the Peak

This Week on the Peak

Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA

The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!

August 8, 2018

This Sunday’s Service:
Finding Our Way: A New Season at MIssion Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation
As we prepare for the arrival of interim minister Rev. Jo Green, let’s spend some time looking forward to our future. What’s YOUR vision of what you would like Mission Peak UU to be?

DeAnna Alm will lead the service and assisting will be Worship Associate Sharon Davis.  Jay Steele will provide our music.

Pastoral Care for August

For August, please contact Barbara Meyers at
510-796-5722 for any pastoral care needs you may have.

Don’t hesitate to reach out and thank you!

Rev. Jo will be arriving in the Bay area soon to get the keys to her new apartment in Union City and get settled. She will then be off to the training for interim ministers. If you would be willing and available to help Rev. Jo unpack and put away her household items between
August 13 and 17, please email
transitionteam@mpuuc.org and let us know the dates/times you are available. We will need a few people to help her get set up in her new home.

Rev. Jo will officially start as our interim minister after her return from training. She will be meeting with church leaders and groups. She will lead her first service with us on
Sunday, September 9. Please join us to welcome her at the service and the potluck luncheon that will follow!
If you have any questions, please talk to or email the transition team: DeAnna Alm (chair), Annette Breingan, Alan Davis, Holly Ito, and Valerie Stewart.
Children & Youth Religious Education (CaYRE)

RE has been having a fun summer! Thank you to everyone who has volunteered!  We still need a few more teachers and assistants for August.  Please look for the sign up this Sunday or email
cayre@mpuuc.org

We are also currently searching for a new RE Coordinator.  You can find our job listing at
mpuuc.org/dresearch. Please pass it along to anyone who may be interested.

August Special Collection to Support Communications Skills Workshop

In the summer, rather than sharing our offering with an outside group once a month, we ask you to contribute to a collection to fund a congregational need not addressed in our budget. This month’s collection will support a planned workshop – on
Saturday, September 29th, 2018, Mission Peak UU is holding a workshop on Communication Skills and Living in Right Relationship, led by Rev. Cat Cox. Cox
is a Unitarian Universalist community minister who provides interfaith spiritual guidance and conflict resolution, and is a congregational consultant.
Holding this workshop will be an investment for Mission Peak’s future, and taking the workshop will be an investment in yourself. But workshops cost money and the board would like to keep it affordable for all members. Money from Sunday’s collection on August 12 will therefore be used to offset some of the associated expenses. So, mark your calendar for Sept. 29, and prepare to make a donation on August 12. Please give generously, it’s all about building a better community for our future!

Save the Date:

September 9:  After Service (this is our Annual Water Service) there will be a Congregational Potluck Picnic – welcoming ALL to MPUUC- especially Rev. Jo.
(Sign-up for the Potluck will follow soon.)
