Ministerial Musings
I feel I have so much to say after coming off the Minister’s Retreat last week in Petaluma. It was so wonderful to be amongst colleagues and I feel that I have 20 more sermons to preach about! Being in another place always give me room for reflection and contemplation and yes, we had a lot of business to attend to, but there was also a bit of time for some relaxation and getting to know our colleagues. Coming into a new place has shown me time and time again how important collegiality is for everyone no matter what your calling is. We all need support from folks who do the work that we identify with. (So many dangling participles, I apologize for that!) I hope you have that support in your lives and if not, can you find a way to create it?
We as a congregation are moving from the month of forgiveness to the month of gratitude in our reflections. And this week we have had so much harmful news to ingest. The Reverend Susan Frederik-Gray has posted a call to action
here.
We need to step up these days as we’ve never stepped up before. During my time of reflection, I have always gained a renewed strength, to fill those reserves that I know I need to have, to fight the good fight that needs to be fought. Many of us haven’t been asked to step up to the extent that we need to now. Take some moments this week to reflect on what is important for you. What is that one or even two things that you feel so passionate about that you would nearly lay down your life to defend? Are you doing those things? If not, why not? We each have a passion we need to pursue and for this one I’m asking that it be a passion to help others or our world, in whatever way you can do it. We as a community, we as a nation, we as a world need you to do this. As in voting, every single person counts. What would you choose yours to be to make this a better world?
Blessings to you all!

Save the Date:
IT’S ALMOST HERE!!!
Can you believe it?!?! The Black & White Gala is almost here!!! The
catalogs will be coming to you soon!! We have so many awesome offerings
this year (and, yes, if you just thought of the perfect thing to offer we can still put it in the auction addendum). What we still need are some VOLUNTEERS and we would really like to sell some more TICKETS. We still need people to help with food service, the boutique, and selling tickets at the door. If you can help with any of these, please email Jen King or visit her at the sign-up table after the service on Sunday.
After the service is also the place to pick up your hard copy auction catalog (you’ll want to read it start to finish and study it thoroughly so you’ll be prepared to bid) and buy your tickets if you haven’t done so already. Tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the event. Don’t forget to invite friends!
*If the $25 ticket price is prohibitive for you please contact Jen King. No MPUUC members will be turned away.
