This Week on the Peak

This Week on the Peak – Wednesday, March 1, 2017

This Week on the Peak
Mission Peak UU – Fremont, CA
The Home of Liberal Religion in the Tri-Cities and Beyond!
March 1, 2017

Canvass season is just around the corner, and we as your Canvass Co-chairs would like to invite you to take some time to reflect on what Mission Peak means to you. In this time of political upheaval, Mission Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation remains a sanctuary in the storm. We offer a place of refuge for the stranger in our midst. We maintain a gathering place for people who share our values, a place where we gain strength in community, and a place where we restore ourselves before venturing out again to fight for what is right.

We would like to maintain this special place of sanctuary, and to do that, we need help from YOU. Over the next month, we will be talking a lot about our congregation’s financial needs. This week, our canvass brochure will come in the mail,  and we ask that you read it over carefully to get a fuller understanding of what our current financial situation is.

You will also be receiving information about our big Canvass Kick Off Dinner which is happening on Saturday, April 1st. We will send a flier along with the mailed brochure. Also look for an evite which will be sent to you online. The dinner will be a celebration, and a chance to enjoy each other’s company, with a catered meal, entertainment and child care.

Actual canvassing doesn’t begin until the 2nd of April. This year we will be having one on one canvassing. That means that each member of the congregation will get a chance to talk with a another canvass trained member about their personal vision for the future of Mission Peak and how they can help make it a reality.
We must keep MPUUC’s beacon of hope shining brightly. We can do this together! We are looking forward to a canvass season full of new possibilities.

This Sunday’s Service:
Easy as 1,2,3

I love the term “Spiritual Practice” because it is a great reminder that reaching our spiritual goals takes effort and hard work, and that its not easy for anyone. Zen Buddhist Master and UU Minister Rev. James Ishamel Ford has claimed that there are three essential components to creating an authentic spiritual practice. Come learn what they are and give your spiritual life a little boost.

Leading the service will be Rev. Jeremy D. Nickel and Worship Associate Ilze Duarte.  Music will be
provided by Jo Ann Schriner with Peak Performers.
As a courtesy to fellow attendees, if you have an active cold, please consider wearing a protective mask.  Thank you!
