Frequently Asked Questions About Mission Peak
Is there a video about Mission Peak?
Yes, click here to view a Video about us.
What are Sunday services like?
Mission Peak’s Sunday services typically include the following: music, a children’s story, sharing of joys and concerns, singing of hymns, readings, and a sermon. We suggest that you come at least three times to get some idea of what our congregation is like.
What should my children and I wear when we come?
We are an informal group. Wear what feels comfortable to you.
Is there child care/Sunday school during services?
See our children and youth page for up to date information. We have indoor and outdoor seating where parents and children can sit together and an activity table set up for young children. We also have children’s chapel the 2nd Sunday of each month. We are not offering child care or weekly classes currently. We hope to return to having our pre-pandemic program described here: Infant, toddler and preschool care is available in the nursery during services. Children are part of the adult service through the opening hymn and story for all ages. Kindergarten through 7th grade children then go to grouped Religious Education classes for the rest of the service. The 8th through 12th grade Youth Group alternate meeting at this time every other week.
If my child doesn’t separate well, can my child stay with me during the service?
Your child is always welcome to stay with you during the worship service.
Are all people welcome in this congregation?
We welcome all people who share our values, regardless of race, age, gender or sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural heritage, social status, or physical ability. We are an LBGTQ welcoming congregation, and support building racial equality and Black Lives Matter.
Are there people in the congregation who hold beliefs different from mine?
Yes. Unitarian Universalists affirm a diversity of religious ideas and support spiritual development guided by freedom, reason, and conscience.
Do you folks believe in God?
Many of us do and Many of us don’t. We support each person’s path to their own spirituality. Some believe in a personal God, others see the spirit of life that fills all of creation, and others do not relate to the idea of God at all. We are enriched by your journey to answer such questions.
How do I meet other people? How do I get involved?
Attend a service. Stay for coffee and conversation following the service. Join a Small Group Ministry group. Give some thought to whether you prefer to meet new people in social- or work-related activities; we offer both options. For example, you can join the Peak Performers choir or attend a potluck dinner, enroll in an adult religious education class, or join any number of committees to work on specific projects that match your skills/interests. For more information, contact our minister.
If I have a Joy or Concern that I want read during the Joys and Concerns part of the service what do I do?
Please write it in the Joys and Concerns book by the front door before the service starts.
