Sometimes the world isn’t as it presents. Sometimes (especially in election years) it can feel like politicians (and the corporations backing them) are trying their best to deceive us – painting a rosy picture of our lives if we trust them and a dystopian nightmare if we go against them. This is a service about a field of psychology known as ‘Family Systems’ where naming the hard truths that no one else has the courage to name is met with great resistance. But if we remain cynical and complacent, we wind up slaves to the Matrix in place. We will look to the movie, ‘The Matrix’ for insight and explore a suitable theology for times like these.
